DTC P1BD7-00: PRA Busbar Temperature 2 Sensor Circuit High: General Description
* What is the high voltage battery system?
The High Voltage Battery System consists of the Battery Management Unit (BMU), Power Relay Assembly (PRA) and a Cooling Blower. Each function is listed below:
- High Voltage Battery: Supplies electrical energy for acceleration and receives/stores electrical energy during deceleration. This battery is a Lithium ion Polymer Battery (LiPB) and has 96 cells (24 Cells x 4 Modules). The voltage of each cell is 3.75V DC, so the rated voltage of this battery pack is 360V DC.
- BMU: Controls the High Voltage Battery by monitoring the voltage, current and temperature.
- PRA consists of relays which link and cut high voltage, and finally, current sensor which monitors battery current. Those are an assembly in PRA.
- Service interlock connector: It is a device that cuts off the circuit connection inside the high voltage battery through mechanical separation.
- Cooling blower: Maintains proper high voltage battery temperature.
