Repair Procedures: Removal

NOTE:
If working with Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P174494 (engine clutch malfunction) requiring replacement of drive motor is indicated, replace motor and transaxle at as a complete unit.

- Remove the automatic transaxle assembly.
(Refer to Automatic Transaxle System - "AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE ")
- Remove the hybrid drive motor (A) bolts.
[Past specification - 7ea bolts]
[Newest specification - 9ea bolts]
- Install the SST (09365 - G8100) at the hybrid drive motor assembly.
- Separate the motor from the transaxle by tightening the bolts (A) of SST (09365 - G8100).NOTE: When tightening the bolts, alternately on both sides.
- Using the crane jack, remove the hybrid drive motor assembly (A) at automatic transaxle.NOTE:
- Remove the spacer (A) from the automatic transaxle.NOTE: The new PHEV automatic transaxle does not include spacer.
- Use a scraper to remove the remaining sealant (A) on the housing of the automatic transaxle and hybrid drive motor.NOTE:
- Make sure that the housing assembly surface is not scratched when removing the sealant.
- Carry out taping on the motor housing with the vinyl so that the remaining sealant does not get into the motor housing of the automatic transaxle.
- Make sure that a foreign substance does not get into the housing assembly when cleaning it with air after removing sealant from the assembly.
NOTE: When storing the motor assembly and automatic transaxle, cover them with vinyl so that dust or foreign substances do not get inside.
