Repair Procedures: Installation

  1. Install the lower snap ring (A).

  2. Install the thrust washer (A).

  3. Install the engine clutch hub assembly (A).

  4. Install the disk set (A) without the separating springs.

    NOTE:
    • Install the friction surface (A) of the disk plate facing downward.

    • The teeth direction (A) of the outer disk plate must be aligned.

    IMPORTANT: For the purpose of measuring the end play, the disk set should be installed without the separating springs (A).

  5. Install the medium thickness of 1.4 mm (0.0551 in.) engine clutch select pressure plate (A).

  6. Install the engine clutch retainer assembly (A).

  7. Record the value after measuring the installation depth of the engine clutch retainer.

    NOTE:
    • Depth should be measured on the surface plate to minimize the error.
    • Find the average value by measuring at least 3 points for the accuracy.

    IMPORTANT: How to measure the depth 
    1. Set the zero at 10 mm (0.3937 in.) after placing the dial of the height gauge on the top surface of the engine clutch retainer.

    2. Adjust the high gauge until the dial value is 10 mm after placing the dial on the top surface of the outer boss.

    3. Check the value of the height gauge.
  8. Remove the engine clutch retainer assembly (A).

  9. Remove the engine clutch hub assembly (A).

  10. Remove the disk set and the engine clutch select pressure plate (A).

  11. Install the engine clutch hub assembly (A).

    NOTE: Check whether the thrust washer is installed before installing the engine clutch hub assembly.
  12. Install the disk set (A) with the separating springs.

    NOTE:

  13. Install the medium thickness of 1.4 mm (0.0551 in.) engine clutch select pressure plate (A).

  14. Install the thrust washer (A).

  15. Install the engine clutch retainer assembly (A).

  16. After pressing the engine clutch using the clamp, install the upper snap ring (A).

  17. Remove the clamp (A).

  18. Measure the engine clutch retainer installation depth and record the measured value.

  19. Change the engine clutch select pressure plate if necessary after checking the end play.

    End play = (Measured value at step 20) - (Measured value at step 8)

    Specified end play: 0.65 - 0.95 mm (0.0256 - 0.0374 in.)

    NOTE: If the end play is out of the specified value, change the engine clutch select pressure plate in the following method below.
    • Less than specified end play: 1.4 mm (0.0551 in.) - (measured end play - average value of specified end play) = Appropriate engine clutch select pressure plate thickness
    • More than specified end play: 1.4 mm (0.0551 in.) + (measured end play - average value of specified end play) = Appropriate engine clutch select pressure plate thickness
    IMPORTANT: Engine clutch select pressure plate list

  20. Install the hybrid drive motor assembly.
