Repair Procedures: Removal
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2024 Kia Sorento. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
WARNING:
- When working on the high voltage system, the work should be performed by technicians who have completed the relevant training. A lack of understanding of the high voltage system can lead to serious accidents due to electric shock or short circuit.
- When working on the high voltage system or related components, be sure to observe and be aware of the "Safety Precautions, Cautions and Warnings". If not, it may cause serious accidents due to electric shock or short circuit.
- When working on the high voltage system, make sure to check the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and high voltage shut-off procedure.
- Use the retrieval/reproduction/charging device to retrieve the refrigerant.CAUTION:
- Use the refrigerant retrieval/charge device exclusively used for the electric compressor to inject the designated refrigerant (R-1234yf) and refrigeration oil (POE). If the refrigeration oil (PAG) for the ordinary car is injected, the compressor may be damaged or a safety-related accident may occur.
- Remove the battery (-) terminal.
(Refer to Engine Electrical System - "AUXILIARY BATTERY ")
- Remove the coolant.
(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "COOLANT ")
- Separate the liquid line (A) after removing the nut.
Tightening torque:
19.6 - 39.2 N.m (2.0 - 4.0 kgf.m, 14.4 - 28.9 lb-ft)
- Separate the chiller coolant hose (A).
- Disconnect the electric expansion valve connector (A) by pressing the lock pin.
- Disconnect the A/C pressure transducer connector (A).
- Disconnect the refrigerant temperature sensor connector (A).
- Remove the chiller assembly mounting bolt (A) and nut (B).
Tightening torque
Bolt (A): 7.8 - 11.8 N.m (0.8 - 1.2 kgf.m, 5.8 - 8.7 lb-ft)
Nut (B): 8.8 - 13.7 N.m (0.9 - 1.4 kgf.m, 6.5 - 10.1 lb-ft)
- Separate the liquid line (A) after removing the bolt from electric expansion valve.
- Remove the electric expansion valve (A) after removing the bolts.
Tightening torque:
8.8 - 13.7 N.m (0.9 - 1.4 kgf.m, 6.5 - 10.1 lb-ft)
