Removal And Installation

- Disconnect the battery negative terminal.
(Refer to Engine Electrical System - "AUXILIARY BATTERY ")
- Remove the engine room under cover.
(Refer to Engine and Transaxle Assembly - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")
- Drain engine coolant by removing the drain plug.
(Refer to Cooling System - "COOLANT ")
- Install the jack under the edge of lower oil pan to support the engine.
- Remove the engine mounting bracket
(Refer to Engine and Transaxle Assembly - "ENGINE MOUNTING ")
- Remove the drive belt.
(Refer to Drive Belt System - "DRIVE BELT ")
- Remove the water pump pulley (A).
Tightening torque:
9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.8 lb.ft)
- Remove the water pump (A).
Tightening torque:
11.8 - 13.7 N.m (1.2 - 1.4 kgf.m, 7.8 - 10.1 lb.ft)
- Remove the water pump gasket (A)
- Install in the reverse order of removal.NOTE:
- Always use a new water pump gasket.
- Check the specifications of the bolt for installing the water pump. (Make sure that the bolt has a solid sealant applied to it.)
- Always use a new water pump bolt.
- Remove the residue of the sealant inside the bolt tab hole.
- When installing the water pump, tighten the bolts in the order shown below.
- Before installing the water pump, clean the hardened sealant, foreign matter, oil, dust, moisture, etc. inside the hole (A) where the bolt is mounted.
- Fill with coolant.

NOTE: The coolant must be injected according to the integrated thermal management module (ITM) coolant filling method. - Start engine and check for leaks.
- Recheck engine coolant level.
