Perform "Integrated Thermal Module Coolant Filling Mode" using KDS
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2024 Kia Sorento. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Check that the engine and radiator are enough cool to touch with hands.
- Remove the reservoir tank cap (A).
- Remove the engine room under cover.
(Refer to Engine and Transaxle Assembly - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")
- Loosen the drain plug (A), and drain the coolant.
- Tighten the radiator drain plug securely.
- After draining engine coolant in the reservoir tank, clean the tank.
- Connect the KDS with ignition ON.
- Perform
"Integrated Thermal Module Coolant Filling Mode" using KDS.
- Add 50/50% water/coolant mix through the coolant reservoir tank, when finished install pressure cap
Coolant capacity:
Approx. 7.9 L (8.35 U.S.gal., 6.95 U.S.qt., 2.09 Imp.qt.)
NOTE:- Press the upper/lower hoses of the radiator to make it easier for air to escape.
- Use genuine antifreeze/coolant.
- To prevent corrosion, the concentration of the coolant should be kept at least 45-60%. If the concentration of cooling water is less than 45 ~ 60%, there is a risk of corrosion and freezing.
- We do not recommend using a cooling water with a concentration higher than 60%, as the cooling effect may be reduced.
- Do not mix different brands of antifreeze/coolant.
- Do not use additional rust inhibitors.
- Start up the engine
- Fill the reservoir tank with coolant.NOTE: Check the coolant level in the reservoir tank and refill it for 20 minutes after the coolant temperature reaches 90° or the engine starts.
- Exit the KDS Add-on "Integrated Flow Control Valve (ITM) Coolant Filling Mode".
- Operate until the coolant circulates sufficiently.
- After checking the amount of cooling water in the reservoir tank, replenish the cooling water to the "F" line.
- Install the engine room under cover.
