DTC B1499-07: ALR Defect: General Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2024 Kia Sorento. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

ALR is a function used to secure seats for infants. U.S. law stipulates that when a child seat is fitted to a seat belt, a tension of 30 pounds is applied and the ALR operates. The ALR signal is an auxiliary sensor that uses child seats, and if the ALR fails, the seat belt cannot make a DTC on its own, causing the PODS to generate an ALR DTC instead. If ALR fails, the PODS cannot distinguish passengers.
