A Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV), also known as a hybrid powertrain, is a type of vehicle that combines an internal combustion engine with an electric motor. In the electric vehicle (EV) driving mode, the vehicle can operate solely using the electric motor, and when more power is required, the engine switches to support the motor in the hybrid (HEV) driving mode.

The electric motor not only powers the vehicle but also generates electrical energy during regenerative braking for recharging the high-voltage battery.
