DTC P0BE7-00: Drive Motor 'A' Phase U Current Sensor Circuit Low: General Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2024 Kia Sorento. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

There are two "Hybrid inverter" inside HPCU. Motor Control Unit (MCU) inverts Battery Management System (BMS) DC power into 3 phase AC power, and MCU provides 3 phase AC power to a drive motor when it receives the control signal from HCU, whereas Generator Control Unit (GCU) provides it to a Hybrid Starter Generator (HSG).

MCU and GCU invert 3 phase power which is supplied from the engine to DC power and store it in the high voltage battery of BMS. They invert or provide the power to the drive motor and the generator via 3 phase power cable.

NOTE: HPCU: Hybrid Power Control Unit (HCU+MCU+GCU+LDC)
HSG: Hybrid Starter Generator
GCU: Generator Control Unit
HCU: Hybrid Control Unit
MCU: Motor Control Unit
BMS: Battery Management System
OBC: On Board Charger
Drive Motor: Traction Motor
PE parts: HPCU/Drive Motor/OBC
High voltage junction box: distribute the high voltage of main battery pack to each module
