Repair Procedures: Removal

WARNING:
  • When working on the high voltage system, the work should be performed by technicians who have completed the relevant training. A lack of understanding of the high voltage system can lead to serious accidents due to electric shock or short circuit.
  • When working on the high voltage system or related components, be sure to observe and be aware of the "Safety Precautions, Cautions and Warnings". If not, it may cause serious accidents due to electric shock or short circuit.
  • When working on the high voltage system, make sure to check the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and high voltage shut-off procedure.
  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.

    (Refer to Engine Electrical System - "AUXILIARY BATTERY ")

  2. Remove the tailgate pillar trim.

    (Refer to Body - "TAILGATE PILLAR TRIM ")

  3. Disconnect the power tailgate drive unit connector (A).

  4. Remove the socket clips (A) from the power tailgate drive unit by using a flat-head screwdriver or remover.
  5. Remove the power tailgate drive unit assembly (B).

    CAUTION:
    • Work in a group of two or more when removing and installing the power tailgate drive unit.
    • Take care not to close the tail gate while the power tailgate drive unit is being removed.
    • Do not reuse the power tailgate drive unit drive if it is dropped on the ground. Discard any dropped power tailgate drive units.
    • When carefully removing the socket clip, take extra care not to lose the socket clip as it may pop out.
    • When carefully removing the socket clip, take care not to scratch the clip surface as scratches may cause corrosions in the future.
