Repair Procedures: Reassembly

NOTE:
  • Thoroughly clean all parts to be assembled.
  • Before installing the parts, apply fresh engine oil to all sliding and rotating surface.
  • Always use a new valve stem seal.
  1. Install the valves.
    1. After applying engine oil to the valve stem seal, install a new valve stem seal (D) using the (09222-2B100).
      NOTE:
      • Always use a new valve stem seal.
      • Incorrect installation of the seal could result in oil leakage past the valve guides.
      • Valve stem seal so that it fully adheres to the head face
      NOTE: As the valve stem seal differs from the intake and exhaust sides, assemble it clearly.
    2. Install the spring seats (F).
    3. Apply engine oil to the outer face of each valve stem and insert the valve (E) into the valve guide.
    4. Install the valve spring (C).
    5. Install the spring retainer (B).

      NOTE: Be careful not to change the position of the inlet and exhaust valves.
    6. Using the SST (09222-3K000, 09222-3K100), compress the valve spring and install the valve spring returner lock.

    NOTE: When installing the special tool, insert the front holder directly into the cylinder head upper bolt hole and secure it.
