Repair Procedures: Installation

  1. Install the cylinder head cover.
    1. Install a new gasket (A) to the cylinder head cover.

      NOTE: Always use new cylinder head cover gasket.
    2. The hardening sealant located on the upper area between timing chain cover and cylinder head should be removed before assembling cylinder head cover.
    3. Apply a sealant for liquid gasket on the timing chain cover and the area marked on the top of the cylinder head and then assemble these parts within 5 minutes.

      Bead width  : 2.0 - 3.0 mm (0.08 - 0.12 in.)

      Sealant  : MS721 - 40 AA or AAO

    4. Install the cylinder head cover (A).

      NOTE: Install the by tightening the bolts, in several passes, in the sequence as shown.

      Tightening torque: 

      Step 1: 3.9 - 5.9 N.m (0.4 - 0.6 kgf.m, 2.9 - 4.3 lb.ft, 34.5 - 52.1 Ib.in)

      Step 2: 7.8 - 9.8 N.m (0.8 - 1.0 kgf.m, 5.8 - 7.2 lb.ft)

      NOTE:
      • Clean the oil, cutting oil, etc. on the upper part of the luggage compartment before installing the cylinder head cover.
      • Check to see if the gasket contacts are clean and thin.
      • Do not fill the engine oil at least 30 minutes after assembly.
      • Do not turn the ignition on within 30 minutes after installing the cylinder head cover.
  2. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  3. Connect the KDS.
  4. Select the "CVVD intake adaptation" in the vehicle S/W management.
