Automatic Transaxle Fluid (ATF) Level Check

WARNING:
- Be sure to read and follow the "General Safety Information and Caution" before doing any work related with the high voltage system. Failure to follow the safety instructions may result in serious electrical injuries.
- Be sure to shut off the high voltage circuit according to the "High Voltage Shut-off Procedures" before doing any work related with the high voltage system to avoid serious electrical injuries.
- Remove the engine room under cover.

- Remove the ATF plug (A).
- Add 0.7 l of ATF SP4M-1 through the ATF plug hole.
- Start the engine to warm up the ATF.NOTE: Do not step on the brake and accelerator simultaneously to warm up the ATF.
- Check by using KDS that the temperature of the ATF is between 50°C and 60°C (122-140°F).
- Move the dial type SBW slowly from "P" to "D", then back to "P". Repeat this sequence a total of two times and then move the shift lever to "P" position. NOTE: Pause in each range for more than 2 seconds.
- Remove the ATF level plug (A).NOTE: When removing the ATF level plug, keep the vehicle on a level ground.
- Check the ATF level.
Normal : ATF flows out in a thin oil stream.
Excessive (abnormal): Over 0.9 liters of ATF flows out for 2 minutes.
Insufficient (abnormal): There is no fluid flow.
NOTE: If the ATF level is too high or low, follow the instructions below.- Excessive: Drain until the ATF flows out in a thin oil stream.
- Insufficient: Add until the ATF flows out in a thin oil stream.
- Install the ATF level check plug (A).NOTE: The existing ATF level plug O-ring must be replaced with a new one. (Do not reuse it.)
- Add 0.45 liters of ATF SP4M-1 through the ATF plug hole.
- Install the ATF plug (A).
Tightening torque :
34.3 - 44.1 N.m (3.5 - 4.5 kgf.m, 25.3 - 32.5 lb.ft)
NOTE: The existing ATF plug gasket must be replaced with a new one (do not reuse). - Install the engine room under cover.
