DTC C1638-87: SCC Communication Error: General Description

The driving force transmitted to the rear wheel is controlled by adjusting the fastening force of the AWD coupling multi-plate clutch by determining the road surface condition and driving condition through various sensor signals input to the AWD controller.

FCA makes a decision if car is about to crash by measuring the distance against the car next ahead. The IEB module stands by braking when collision hazard against the car next ahead is detected.

If collision is expected, The IEB module brakes the vehicle even thought the driver doesn't press brake pedal by actuating motor to reduce damage of crash.

The IEB module exchanges CAN messages with HPCU, FCA for normal operation of the VSM.
