Component Inspection

  1. Ignition "OFF".
  2. Shift lever position "P".
  3. Ignition "ON".
  4. Connect KDS and select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC)" mode.
  5. Using a KDS, clear DTC.
  6. ESP Off switch pushed.
  7. Check for ESP Off lamp condition of the instrument cluster.
  8. Select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC)" mode again.
  9. Is the same DTC stored in the system?

    Good 

    • Fault might be intermittent and caused either by poor contact in connectors or wiring harness, or it has been repaired and control module memory is not cleared yet. Thoroughly check terminal of battery, all connectors (and connections) for looseness, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, and/or damage.
    • Repair or replace as necessary and then Go to "Verification Of Repair " procedure.

    No Good 

    • Carefully re-do this troubleshooting guide steps.
    • If no problems were found with the circuits or connectors, replace ESP OFF switch and then Go to "Verification Of Repair " procedure.
