Removal & Installation: Removal

WARNING: When working on high voltage system or related system, make sure that you are familiar and comply with the "Safety Precautions, Cautions and Warnings." See HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION AND CAUTION . If you do not comply with the instructions, serious accidents due to electric shock or leakage may occur.
CAUTION: Wear gloves to protect hands from injury.
NOTE: When removing the parts, wrap protective tape around the tool to prevent damage to trims and panels.
  1. Disconnect the battery negative (-) terminal and the service interlock connector.

    (Refer to REMOVAL & INSTALLATION - 2WD

    (Refer to REMOVAL & INSTALLATION - 4WD

  2. Remove the main crash pad assembly.

    (Refer to Crash Pad - "MAIN CRASH PAD ASSEMBLY ")

  3. Remove the knee airbag (KAB).

    (Refer to Restraint - "KNEE AIRBAG (KAB) MODULE ")

  4. Remove the heater control unit.

    (Refer to Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning - "HEATER CONTROL UNIT ")

  5. Loosen the front nuts and through bolts and lower the steering column down.

    (Refer to Steering System - "MDPS COLUMN AND HOUSING ")

  6. Remove the wiper motor.

    (Refer to Body Electrical System - "WIPER MOTOR ")

  7. Remove the cowl cross bar bolts (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    22.6 - 30.4 N.m (2.3 - 3.1 kgf.m, 16.6 - 22.4 lb.ft)

  8. Disconnect the airbag system control module connector (A).

  9. Disconnect the each connector (A) after removing the clip of the front pillar part.

  10. Disconnect the connectors (A) connected to integrated central control unit (ICU).

  11. Disconnect the each connector (A) connected to multibox.

  12. After pressing the lock pin, remove the clip and disconnect each connector of the heater unit.

    1. Disconnect the temperature control actuator connector and mode control actuator connector (A).

    2. Disconnect the evaporator temperature sensor connector (A) after removing the clip.

    3. Disconnect the rear temperature control actuator connectors (A).

    4. Disconnect the interior antenna connector (A).

    [Passenger] 

    1. Disconnect the passenger auto defogging actuator, mode control actuator, temperature control actuator connectors (A).

    2. Disconnect the connected connector (A).

  13. Disconnect the shower duct sensor connector (A) after removing the clip.

  14. Remove the shower duct (A) after removing the screw.

  15. Remove the plug holes (A) by using the remover.

  16. Remove the bolts and nuts (A) installed to the heater unit.

    Tightening torque: 

    16.7 - 23.5 N.m (1.7 - 2.4 kgf.m, 12.3 - 17.4 lb.ft)

  17. Remove the cowl cross bar assembly (A) after removing the bolts and nuts.

    Tightening torque: 

    16.7 - 23.5 N.m (1.7 - 2.4 kgf.m, 12.3 - 17.4 lb.ft)

  18. Remove the main wiring (A) installed to the cowl cross bar.
