DTC C2231-16: EVP Relay Open: General Description

The Electronic Vacuum Pump (EVP) is equipped to maintain the vacuum pressure of the brake booster. Typical natural intake engines maintain vacuum in the brake booster due to negative pressure in the manifold, but turbocharged engines are difficult to maintain vacuum due to boost pressure. Therefore, the vacuum pump is used to maintain the vacuum of the brake booster.
