DTC U0121-82: Lost Communication With Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Control Module: General Description

- High-Speed CAN transmits data at 1 Mbit/s and Low-Speed CAN at 125 kbit/s.
- The signal is transmitted in both directions.

Electronic control of vehicles to reduce emissions and enhance convenience/safety requires control units for each system for optimal control and various types of information required for each control. The commonization of various sensors necessary for the control of each control unit is required. For this purpose, the Control Area Network (CAN) communication method, which is resistant to electrical noise and enables high-speed communication, is used to efficiently share information on the powertrain (engine and automatic transmission) and other control units (ABS, TCS, ESP, ECS or 4WD etc.) of the vehicle. Through CAN communication, each control unit shares important signals (such as engine revs, cooling water temperatures, or throttle opening of a load) for efficient and optimal control.
