Removal and Installation

  1. Disconnect the battery negative (-) terminal.
  2. Remove the engine cover.

    (Refer to Engine And Transaxle Assembly - "ENGINE COVER ")

  3. Remove the air duct and air cleaner assembly.

    (Refer to Intake And Exhaust System - "AIR CLEANER ")

  4. Remove the engine room under cover.

    (Refer to Engine And Transaxle Assembly - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")

  5. Remove the engine wiring connectors and harness clamps around the intake manifold and then remove the connector brackets and wiring protector.

  6. Disconnect the purge control solenoid valve (PCSV) hose (A).

  7. Disconnect the vacuum pipe hose (A).

  8. Remove the vacuum pipe bolts (A)

  9. Remove the air breather pipe bolt (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    9.8-11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2-8.7 lb.ft)

  10. Remove the wiring bracket bolt (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb.ft)

  11. Remove the electronic throttle control (ETC) module.

    (Refer to Engine Control/Fuel System - "ETC (ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL) SYSTEM ")

  12. Remove the purge control solenoid valve (PCSV) hose (A) and bracket (B).

    Tightening torque: 

    9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb.ft)

  13. Remove the intake manifold stay (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    18.6 - 23.5 N.m (1.9 - 2.4 kgf.m, 13.7 - 17.4 lb.ft)

  14. Remove the intake manifold (A) with the gasket.

    Tightening torque: 

    18.6 - 23.5 N.m (1.9 - 2.4 kgf.m, 13.7 - 17.4 lb.ft)

    NOTE:
    • Be careful not to allow the foreign substances to enter the inlet port.
    • Do not reuse the intake manifold gasket (A) and ETC (Electronic Throttle Control) module gasket (B).

  15. Install in the reverse order of removal.
    NOTE: When installing the intake manifold, tighten the bolts and nuts with pre-torque first, and then tighten the bolts and nuts with the specified torque as the sequence shown.
