Repair Procedures: Removal

CAUTION: To prevent scalding by the hot exhaust parts, wait until the engine cools down to room temperature.
NOTE:
  • Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted surfaces.
  • When handling the metal gasket, be careful not to fold or damage the surface.
  • To avoid damage, disconnect the wiring connectors carefully.
  • Replace all gaskets with new ones. Do not reuse.
  1. Disconnect the battery negative (-) terminal.
  2. Remove the engine cover.

    (Refer to Engine and Transaxle Assembly - "ENGINE COVER ")

  3. Remove the air cleaner assembly.

    (Refer to Intake and Exhaust System - "AIR CLEANER ")

  4. Remove the battery and battery tray.

    (Refer to Engine Electrical System - "BATTERY ")

  5. Remove the engine room under cover.

    (Refer to Engine and Transaxle Assembly - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")

  6. Drain the coolant.

    (Refer to Cooling System - "COOLANT ")

  7. Remove the engine wiring connectors and harness clamps around the turbo manifold module and then remove the connector brackets and wiring protector.

  8. Remove the intercooler inlet hose & pipe (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    14.7 - 20.0 N.m (1.5 - 2.0 kgf.m, 10.8 - 14.5 lb.ft)

    Information 

    When disconnect the intercooler outlet hose, pull out the quick connector clamp (A) in the direction of the arrow as shown below.

  9. Remove the wiring bracket (A).

  10. Remove the front muffler.

    (Refer to Intake and Exhaust System - "MUFFLER ")

  11. Remove the warm-up catalytic converter (WCC) lower stay (A).

  12. Remove the warm-up catalytic converter (WCC) upper stay nut (A).

  13. Remove the clamp (A).

    NOTE: Always use a new clamp
  14. Remove the warm-up catalytic converter (WCC) (A).

  15. Remove the warm-up catalytic converter (WCC) gasket (A).

  16. Remove the upper heat protector (A).

  18. Disconnect the tubo charger water return hose (A).

  19. Remove the tubo charger water feed pipe & hose nuts (A).

  20. Remove the oil drain pipe (A) and oil feed pipe (B).

  21. Remove the turbo manifold module (A).

    NOTE: Always use a new turbo manifold module gasket.
  23. Remove the water feed pipe & hose (A).
