Removal And Installation

CAUTION: Put on gloves to prevent hand injuries.

Information 

  1. Remove the front pillar trim.

    (Refer to Interior Trim - "FRONT PILLAR TRIM ")

  2. Remove the crash pad center lower panel.

    (Refer to Crash Pad - "CRASH PAD CENTER LOWER PANEL ")

  3. Remove the steering wheel.

    (Refer to Steering System - "STEERING WHEEL ")

  4. Remove the steering column shroud lower panel.

    (Refer to Crash Pad - "STEERING COLUMN SHROUD PANEL ")

  5. Remove the instrument cluster.

    (Refer to Body Electrical System - "INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ")

  6. Remove the head up display unit.

    (Refer to Body Electrical System - "HEAD UP DISPLAY (HUD) UNIT ")

  7. Remove the center speaker.

    (Refer to Body Electrical System - "SPEAKER ")

  8. Remove the audio/AVN head unit.

    (Refer to Body Electrical System - "AUDIO/AVN HEAD UNIT ")

  9. After loosening the mounting screws, remove the crash pad switch assembly (A).

  10. Disconnect the connector (A).

  11. After loosening the mounting nut, remove the head up display bracket (A).

  12. Using a screwdriver or remover, remove the center speaker grille (A).

  13. Disconnect the auto light sensor connector (A) and photo sensor connector (B).

  14. Using a screwdriver or remover, remove the side air vent duct assembly (A).

  15. Loosen the mounting nuts (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    7.8 - 11.8 N.m (0.8 - 1.2 kgf-m, 5.8 - 8.7 lb.ft)

  16. Loosen the mounting bolts and nuts and remove the main crash pad assembly (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    16.7 - 23.5 N.m (1.7 - 2.4 Kgf.m, 12.3 - 23.1 lb.ft)

  17. Disconnect the passenger's airbag connectors (A).

  18. To install, reinstall in reverse order of removal procedure.

    Information 

    • Make sure the crash pad fits onto the guide pins correctly.
    • Before tightening the bolts, make sure the crash pad wire harnesses are not pinched.
    • Make sure the connectors are plugged in properly, and the antenna lead is connected properly.
    • Make sure that each of the assembly components operates properly.
    • Replace any damaged clips (or pin-type retainers).
