DTC C1109-21: IG1 Open - MDPS Fail Safe: General Description

The Motor Driven Power Steering (MDPS) Unit receives vehicle speed and engine RPM signal from Engine Management System (EMS) via CAN line and controls motor current accurately according to driver's steering intention. MDPS unit monitors that operating voltage supplied as Ignition switch is too high or too low on power supply terminal. If excessive high voltage or low voltage is detected, MDPS unit stops current supply to solenoid to prevent unexpected operation or damage.
