Front brake disc thickness check

  1. Check the brake pads for wear and fade.
  2. Check the brake disc for damage and cracks.
  3. Remove all rust and contamination from the surface, and measure the disc thickness at 8 points, at least, at the same distance 5 mm (0.1969 in.) apart from the brake disc outer circle.

      Front brake disc thickness 

      Standard

    • 15 inch: 23 mm (0.9055 in)
    • 16 inch: 25 mm (0.9843 in)
    • Service limit

    • 15 inch: 21mm (0.8268 in)
    • 16 inch: 23.4 mm (0.9213 in)

    DTV (Disc Thickness Variation) : 

    Circumference direction : Less than 0.005 mm (0.00020 in.)

    Radial direction : Less than 0.010 mm (0.00040 in.)

  4. if the measured DTV larger than the limit and thickness thicker than the service limit of the disc, skim the brake disc.
    NOTE:
    • Skim the disc according to the method of using each skimming lathe. (On-car mounting or external device)
    • Do not skim the brake disc when it reaches the service limit.
  5. If the brake disc is thinner than the service limit, replace the brake disc.
