DTC Information: DTC Detecting Condition

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2021 Kia Soul. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Item Detecting Condition Possible Cause
DTC Strategy Case1
  • Motor relay open, motor short to ground
  • Poor connector connection
  • Faulty motor stuck
  • Open in motor fuse
  • Faulty ESC
Case2
  • Motor open, motor short to battery
Case3
  • Motor lock (stuck)
Case4
  • Motor ground circuit open
Case5
  • Motor fuse open
Threshold Value Case1
  • A failure is detected if the motor voltage is below 7 times during motor relay is on
  • A failure is detected if the voltage difference between power side and load side of motor relay is higher than 0.85 to 1.15V for more than 100ms during motor relay is on
Case2
  • A failure is detected if the motor voltage is higher than 3.5 to 4.5V for more than 500ms during motor relay is off (This monitoring works after motor relay is switched off over 1.8s)
Case3
  • If any following condition is monitored, controller drives motor maximum 3 times for test. A failure is detected if any following condition is satisfied continuously during test
  • Motor voltage is below 0.4 to 0.6V within 20ms, after motor is off
  • The decreasing rate of motor voltage for 1s is out of normal range after motor is off
Case4
  • A failure is detected if ground voltage is higher than 5V for more than 500ms during motor relay is on
Case5
  • A failure is detected if motor power voltage is lower than 3.5 to 4.5V for more than 1s
Disable Condition Case1
  • Ignition "OFF" and then "ON" and minimum vehicle speed over 30km/h (19mph)
Case2
  • Ignition "OFF" and then "ON"
Case3
  • Ignition "OFF" and then "ON" and minimum vehicle speed over 30km/h (19mph)
Case4
  • Ignition "OFF" and then "ON"
Case5
  • Ignition "OFF" and then "ON"
Warning Lamp
  • EBD/ESC/DBC/AVH warning lamp "ON"
