External Media (USB, AUX, Multi Jack, Etc.)

- Features/Misdiagnose cases
(1) System features - Plays saved media files in the device when external device(USB, AUX, iPod) is connected
- "External device has been connected" message appears only when external device is connected
(2) Vehicle parts configuration (3) Misdiagnose cases - USB power issue due to use of external USB charger (Customer)
- USB recognition fail due to shape change (Damaged USB slot by customer)
- Non-standard USB use (No guide metal)
- Defective soundtrack in USB (Virus, etc.)
- No phone charging using Multi-terminal slots (Normal- For charging, use cigar jack)
- No smartphone music streaming using multi-terminal (only recognizes iPhone music)
- If iPod cable and Bluetooth is connected simultaneously, Bluetooth Audio feature will be limited (normal spec)
- USB issue _Not playing/Recognition fail
Inspection Description (1) Duplicate issue - Certain issues can be duplicated (If possible, use customer's USB for testing)
- Sound skip/cut/recognition fail/Skips to previous mode while playing, etc.
- USB spec (Shape, thickness): If USB has non-standard spec, standard USB spec use is recommended
- Duplicate frequency: all time/intermittent defect
(2) Defect caused by Ext. parts - Customer USB defect
- USB Cable defect
- Multi-terminal defect
- Duplicate issue using test USB
- Standard USB: 32G Space or below/FAT32 format(NTFS, exFAT not supported)
- USB file standard: Refer to system features information.
- USB file status: Virus check using PC
Recommend to use Standard USB and remove any files other than media source
- USB cable defect
- Wiring harness connecting H/U and multi-terminal (Audio spec: 16Pin, AVN/D Audio spec: 12Pin)
- USB cable connection status (4Pin: AVN/D Audio spec only)
- Replace test for cable defect (Test cable connection before replacing)
- Multi-terminal defect
- Check damaged socket on multi-terminal
- Check if rear side pin is bent
- Replace multi-terminal and re-test
(3) Check H/U defect - If this issue continues, replace H/U and re-test
- Certain issues can be duplicated (If possible, use customer's USB for testing)
- AUX issue_ Does not play/Recognition fail/AUX "External device has been connected"
Inspection Description (1) Duplicate issue - Certain issues can be duplicated (If possible, use customer's AUX jack for testing)
- Sound skip/cut/recognition fail/Skips to previous mode while playing, etc.
- AUX Spec (Genuine AUX PLUG diameter = 3.5±0.1): Recommend use of standard AUX
- Duplicate frequency: Duplicates intermittently?
(2) Defect caused by Ext. parts - Customer AUX
- AUX cable
- Multi-terminal
- Test AUX using test device
- Test Ext. Device: Working phone and AUX cable
- If issue resolves when test device is connected, swap test customer's AUX cable and external device to identify defect
- Cable defect
- Wiring harness connecting H/U and multi-terminal
(Audio spec: 16Pin, AVN/D Audio spec: 12Pin)
- USB cable connection status (4Pin: AVN/D Audio spec only).
- Replace test for cable defect (Test cable connection before replacing)
- Wiring harness connecting H/U and multi-terminal
- Multi-terminal

- Auto-play source from device when insert USB
- If issue occurs, proceed with inspection following steps from "USB does not recognize/play"
(2) Explain to customer - Normal spec
- For fast charging, recommend use for cigar jack
- Multi-terminal can still charge the phone, but charging will take more than 5 hours
- Cigar jack chargers are readily available in market
- Status of multi terminal related system (If possible, use customer's USB for testing)
- Media in smartphone/No video
Inspection Description (1) Duplicate issue - Check multi terminal related system (If possible, use customer's USB for testing)
- Auto-play source from device if USB is inserted
- If issue occurs, proceed with inspection following steps from "USB does not recognize/play"
(2) Explain to customer - Normal spec
- Smartphone media/video does not play on H/U (Except iPhone)
- Designed spec
- To connect and play media source using smartphone, Android Auto use is required
- Check multi terminal related system (If possible, use customer's USB for testing)
- iPod issue_Not playing/Does not recognize
