DTC P0340-00: Camshaft Position Sensor 'A' (Intake) Circuit (Bank 1 Or Single Sensor): General Description
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2021 Kia Soul. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The Camshaft Position Sensor (CMPS) detects the compression TDC of the No. 1 cylinder. The Camshaft Position Sensor (CMPS) is a hall type sensor and targets on the end of the camshaft. When the target triggers the sensor, in a running engine, the sensor voltage is 5V then goes to 0V. The Camshaft Position Sensor (CMPS) signal is sent to the PCM and the PCM uses the Camshaft Position Sensor (CMPS) signal for synchronizing the sequential fuel injectors.
