Short in CAN Communication Line Inspection

  1. Ignition "ON".
  2. Measure voltage between Pin No. 85 (CAN High) terminal of ECM and chassis ground.
  3. Measure voltage between Pin No. 63 (CAN Low) terminal of ECM and chassis ground.

    Specification:  CAN High Voltage - Approx. 3.28V/CAN Low Voltage - Approx. 1.87V

  4. Ignition "Off"
  5. Disconnect TCM and ECM/PCM connectors.
  6. Measure resistance between Pin No. 44 (CAN High) terminal of TCM and Pin No. 85 (CAN High) terminal of ECM.
  7. Measure resistance between Pin No. 45 (CAN Low) terminal of TCM and Pin No. 63 (CAN Low) terminal of ECM.

    Specification:  Approx. 0Ω

  8. Is measured value within specification?

    YES 

    NO
