BSM (Balance Shaft Module)
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Insert a stopper pin (A) on the BSM to hold the sprocket at the reference position with the timing mark (B) aligned with the timing notch (C).
Information
New BSM has already been installed with a stopper pin at the reference position.
- Install the BSM (Balance Shaft Module) (A).NOTE: The timing mark of BSM sprocket should be matched with the paint-marked link of the timing chain.
- Install the BSM mounting bolts.
- Tighten the bolts with seating torque 29.4 N.m (3.0 kgf.m, 21.7 lb-ft) and then loosen the bolts.
- Using the SST (Torque Angle Adapter, 09221-4A000), tighten the bolts with specified tightening torque and angle.
Tightening torque
Bolts (A) (M9x181.5): 22.6 - 26.5 N.m (2.3 - 2.7 kgf.m, 16.6 - 19.5 lb.ft) + 88° - 92°
Bolts (B) (M9x100): 22.6 - 26.5 N.m (2.3 - 2.7 kgf.m, 16.6 - 19.5 lb.ft) + 43° - 47°
NOTE: Do not reuse the BSM bolts.
- Remove the stopper pin (A) from the BSM.
- Remove the stopper pin (A) from the tensioner.
- Confirm the BSM timing mark.
- Turn the crankshaft pulley and align its groove with the timing mark "T" of the timing chain cover.
- Confirm that the sprocket timing mark (A) is visually aligned with center of adjacent cast timing notch (B).
- Turn the crankshaft pulley and align its groove with the timing mark "T" of the timing chain cover.
- Install the other parts in the reverse order of removal.
