Basic Inspection

WARNING: HEV battery system uses high voltage.
It may cause death or damage due to electrical shock, if you do not follow below Instructions.

Follows instructions of appropriate service information.
Wear and use insulated gloves and tools.
Ignition "OFF", Disconnect ground cable of auxiliary battery and "OFF" the safety connector of the high voltage battery.
Check high voltage terminal on Power Relay Assembly is lower than 30V.
Be careful that it should not be short between terminals when measuring battery cell voltage.
You may be injured due to spark, parts damage or electrical shock.
Metallic material cause high voltage short that may cause damage of life or vehicle. Therefore, get rid of all the metallic material before working. (Metallic Material: Watch, Ring, any metallic products etc.)
After disconnect high voltage cable, be careful not to happen short between exposed terminals on high voltage connector.

Inspection Procedure

Check fuses and relays.
Check battery terminals and charge status.
Inspect following items.
1. Damages on wiring harness and terminals: Inspect the open in wiring, deterioration and contact resistance, oxidation, deformation on terminals.
2. Connection condition of connector: Inspect the damages on locking device, broken away terminals, and connection condition of terminals and wirings. Inspect the connection condition between male pins and female pins by disconnecting the connector. Once the inspection is complete, properly reconnect the pins.

CAUTION: First you need to separate male connector about checking area and check the female connector to terminal insertion contact condition. Then you need to install the pin to the right position after separate it.

Good

Go to "CIRCUIT INSPECTION " procedure.

No Good

Repair as necessary and then go to "VERIFICATION OF REPAIR " procedure.
