Component Inspection

Check EPB Actuator 

  1. Place the vehicle on a place at flat ground, shift the gear to the P position, turn off IG SW and engine, and install a wheel chock on the front wheels to prevent the vehicle from moving.
  2. Disconnect Rear-LH/RH Actuator harness connector.
  3. Supply the battery power to the unit connectors terminal of left EPB motor for 2 seconds to see if the motor operates.

    * Before conducting the "Actuation Test", install a wheel chock on the front wheels to prevent the vehicle from moving.

  4. Is the normal operation within specification?

    YES 

    • Fault might be intermittent and caused either by poor contact in connectors or wiring harness, or it has been repaired and control module memory is not cleared yet. Thoroughly check terminal of battery, all connectors (and connections) for looseness, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, and/or damage.
    • Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair " procedure.

    NO 

    • Carefully re-do this troubleshooting guide steps.
    • If no problems were found with the circuits or connectors, replace EPB actuator and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair " procedure.
    CAUTION: In case of replacing HECU or Rear brake caliper/pad/EPB motor, perform following procedures;

Assembly Check (ECU replacement) - EPB integrated ESP (ESC) ECU Only 

  1. Ignition "OFF"
  2. Connect KDS/GDS to Data Link Connector (DLC).
  3. Ignition "ON"
  4. Select "Vehicle S/W Management" on KDS/GDS.
  5. Perform "Assembly Check (ECU replacement)" in "Vehicle S/W Management" with KDS/GDS.
