Component Inspection
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
■ Inspection CAN Waveform
- Ignition "OFF" and connect each channel scope to CAN-H Ignition H terminal and CAN-LOW terminal.
- Ignition "ON" after disconnecting only ECM to CAN BUS.
- Ignition "ON" after disconnecting only Instrument Cluster to CAN BUS.
Specification: At Ignition "ON", the waveform is same as the one of "Signal Waveform & Data"
Monitoring CAN HIGH and LOW simultaneously is important in monitoring CAN communication waveform. When CAN HIGH signal rise to 3.5V and LOW signal drops to 1.5V - voltage difference between HIGH and LOW signal is 2V.
■ Inspection CAN Resistance
- Ignition "OFF"
- Measure resistance between Pin No. 3 (CAN-High) and Pin No. 11 (CAN-Low) terminals of data link connector (Measurement "A")
- Disconnect ECM, Instrument Cluster, and BCM connector.
- Measure resistance between Pin No. 3 (CAN-High) and Pin No. 11 (CAN-Low) terminals of data link connector (Measurement "B")
Specification:
ECM, Instrument Cluster and BCM connected: Approx. 60Ω (Measurement "A")
ECM disconnected: Approx. 120Ω (Measurement "B")
■ Confirm CAN Inspection
- CAN waveform and resistance normal?
YES
- Go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
NO
- Repair CAN BUS lines and go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR ".
