CAN Communication Line Inspection(waveform)

  1. Ignition "ON".
  2. Ch.1→ Measure signal waveform between Pin No. 3(CAN high) terminal of DLC(Data Link Cable) harness connector and chassis ground.

    Ch.2→ Measure signal waveform between Pin No. 11(CAN low) terminal of DLC(Data Link Cable) harness connector and chassis ground.

    Specification: 

    CAN High: Max. Approx. 4V/Min. Approx. 2.5V

    CAN Low: Max. Approx. 2.6V/Min. Approx. 1.2V

  3. Is the measured value within specifications?

    YES 

    • Fault might be intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor's and/or ECU's connector or was repaired and ECU memory was not cleared. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and go to "Verification Of Vehicle Repair " procedure.

    NO 

    • CAN communication line voltage is higher than 3.5V → Repair as necessary and go to "Verification Of Vehicle Repair " procedure.
    • CAN communication line voltage is lower than 1V → Go to Next step procedure.
