■ CAN communication line short to ground check

  1. Ignition "OFF".
  2. Make sure all modules are properly connected.
  3. Measure resistance between CAN High terminal of Data Link Connector (DLC) and chassis ground.
  4. Measure resistance between CAN Low terminal of Data Link Connector (DLC) and chassis ground.

Specification:  ∞Ω

■ CAN communication line short to battery check

  1. Ignition "OFF".
  2. Make sure all modules are properly connected.
  3. Ignition "ON".
  4. Measure voltage between CAN High terminal of Data Link Connector (DLC) and chassis ground.
  5. Measure voltage between CAN Low terminal of Data Link Connector (DLC) and chassis ground.

Specification:

CAN High to chassis ground: Approx. 2.6V

CAN Low to chassis ground: Approx. 2.4V

■ CAN communication line open check

  1. Ignition "OFF".
  2. Disconnect HECU connector and PCM connector.
  3. Measure resistance between CAN High terminal of HECU harness connector and CAN High terminal of MDPS ECU harness connector.
  4. Measure resistance between CAN Low terminal of HECU Harness connector and CAN Low terminal of MDPS ECU harness connector.

    Specification:  Below 1Ω

  5. Is the measured value within specification?

    YES

    • Fault might be intermittent and caused either by poor contact in connectors or wiring harness. Thoroughly check terminal of battery, all connectors (and connections) for looseness, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, and/or damage.
    • Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.

    NO
