Component Inspection

■ Steering Angle Sensor check 

  1. Connect GDS to Data Link Connector (DLC).
  2. Engine "ON".
  3. Verify that MDPS system is initialized and steering angle sensor is calibrated.
  4. Monitor "Steering Angle Sensor" parameter in the "Current Data" with GDS in MDPS system.

    Specification:  Parameter changes as steering wheel turns (-537 Deg. ~ +537 Deg.)

  5. Is parameter displayed changes when turning steering wheel?

    YES 

    • Substitute with known good AFLS-ECU or MDPS ECU and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace ECU and go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
      NOTE: * In case of replacing AFLS-ECU, perform following procedures.
      1. "Parameter Download" for initializing AFLS-ECU. (Refer to B1661 )
      2. "Calibration of Sensors" for height sensor calibration. (Refer to B1637 )

      * In case of replacing MDPS ECU, perform following procedures.
      1. "ASP Calibration" for steering angle sensor offset correction (Refer to C1261 )

    NO 

    • Substitute with known good Steering Angle Sensor and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace Steering Angle Sensor and go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
      NOTE: * In case of replacing the Steering Angle Sensor, perform "ASP Calibration" with GDS.
