Check EPB actuator

  1. Connect GDS to Data Link Connector (DLC).
  2. Engine "ON" and place vehicle on flat ground.
  3. Monitor "Current (RH) " and "Current (LH) " parameter on the "Current Data" with GDS while applying and releasing the EPB several times.

    Specification:  approx. 7A.

  4. Is the parameter displayed within specification?

    YES

    • Fault is intermittent and caused either by poor contact in connectors or wiring harness, or it has been repaired and Control Module memory is not cleared yet. Thoroughly check terminal of battery, all connectors (and connections) for looseness, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, and/or damage.
    • Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.

    NO

    • Substitute with a known-good EPB actuator and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace EPB actuator and if EPB actuator is replaced, apply and release EPB several times, then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
    • After actuator replacement, if DTC recurs, substitute with a known-good EPB ECU and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace EPB ECU and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
    • If EPB ECU is replaced, perform "Variant coding", "G-Sensor Calibration" with GDS.
