Activating Air Bag System (Accord)
NOTE:
To reconnect front SRS connectors, push sleeve-side connector half toward pawl-side connector half without touching sleeve. As connector halves are pressed together, pawl will push sleeve back. When connector halves are completely connected, pawl will release spring-loaded sleeve and connector will lock.
- Ensure ignition is OFF and negative battery cable is disconnected for at least 3 minutes. Connect 4-pin driver's side air bag connector. Install access panel under steering wheel. Connect 4-pin passenger's air bag connector. Install glove box.
- Connect driver's and passenger's side impact air bag module 2-pin connectors under seats. Connect both front seat belt pretensioner 2-pin connectors to SRS main harness. Connect both side curtain air bag inflator 2-pin connectors. Install trim panels.
- Reconnect negative battery cable. Check SRS indicator light to ensure system is functioning properly. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK . Reprogram radio frequencies. Allow ECM/PCM adaptive idle speed system to learn and adjust the engine idle speed. On V6 models, go to next step. On 4-cylinder models, go to step 5.
- On V6 models, ensure all electrical loads (A/C, audio, rear window defogger, lights, etc.) are off. Perform PCM RESET in the CLEAR MENU using Honda PGM Tester or HDS. Turn ignition switch to ON (II) position, and wait for 2 seconds. Start engine, and hold it at 3000 RPM with no load (in Park or Neutral) until radiator fan comes on, or until engine coolant temperature reaches 194°F (90°C). Allow engine to idle for about 5 minutes with throttle fully closed.
- On 4-cylinder models, ensure all electrical loads (A/C, audio, rear defogger, lights, etc.) are off. Start engine, and hold it at 3000 RPM with no load (in Park or Neutral) until radiator fan comes on, or until engine coolant temperature reaches 194°F (90°C). Allow engine to idle for about 5 minutes with throttle fully closed and cooling fans not operating.
NOTE:
If radiator cooling fans come on, add the time the cooling fans are on to the 5 minute adaptive idle learn time.
