DTC55: Driver Module Short

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Disconnect Air Bag Diagnostic Unit (ADU) connector. Disconnect upper clockspring connector. Check for continuity between clockspring connector terminals No. 2 (Yellow/Red wire) and No. 3 (Red wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, replace driver-side air bag module. See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Disconnect lower clockspring connector. Check continuity between terminals No. 2 (Yellow/Red wire) and No. 3 (Red wire) of harness connector. If continuity exists, replace wire harness between ADU and lower clockspring connector. If continuity does not exist, replace clockspring. See CLOCKSPRING  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
