DTC 61: Driver PRETENSIONER Short To Ground

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Disconnect Air Bag Diagnostic Unit (ADU) connector and driver-side seat belt pretensioner connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Check continuity between ground and ADU connector terminal No. 1 (Light Green wire) and/or No. 2 (Orange wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, replace harness between ADU and pretensioner.
  2. Check continuity between ground and seat belt pretensioner harness connector terminals No. 1 (Light Green wire) and/or No. 2 (Orange wire). If continuity exists, replace harness between ADU and pretensioner. If continuity does not exist, replace driver-side seat belt pretensioner. See SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
