DTC54: Driver Module Short To Battery

NOTE: Refer to wiring diagram and Air Bag Diagnostic Unit (ADU) connector identification when diagnosing faults. See Figure & Figure .
  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Disconnect Air Bag Diagnostic Unit (ADU) connector. Disconnect harness-to-clockspring connector. Check for battery voltage between ground and ADU connector terminal No. 10 (Red wire) and-or terminal No. 11 (Yellow-Red wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If battery voltage exists, replace wire harness between ADU and harness-to-clockspring connector. If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect clockspring-to-air bag module connector. Check for battery voltage between ground and terminal No. 2 (Yellow-Red wire) and-or terminal No. 3 (Red wire) of clockspring connector. If battery voltage exists, replace clockspring. See CLOCKSPRING  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If battery voltage does not exist, replace driver-side air bag module. See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
