DTC 61: Driver PRETENSIONER Short To Ground

NOTE: Refer to wiring diagram and Air Bag Diagnostic Unit (ADU) connector identification when diagnosing faults. See Figure & Figure .
  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Disconnect Air Bag Diagnostic Unit (ADU) connector and driver-side seat belt pretensioner connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Check for continuity between ground and ADU connector terminal No. 1 (Light Green wire) and-or terminal No. 2 (Orange wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If continuity exists, replace harness between ADU and pretensioner. If continuity does not exist, go to next step.
  2. Check for continuity between ground and seat belt pretensioner harness connector terminals No. 1 (Light Green wire) and-or No. 2 (Orange wire). If continuity exists, replace harness between ADU and pretensioner. If continuity does not exist, replace pretensioner. See SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
