DTC 36: Warning Light Open

NOTE: Refer to wiring diagram and Air Bag Diagnostic Unit (ADU) connector identification when diagnosing faults. See Figure & Figure .
  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Access and disconnect Air Bag Diagnostic Unit (ADU) connector. Check for continuity between ADU connector terminal No. 7 (Yellow wire) and instrument cluster connector terminal B11 (Yellow wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If no continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity exists, replace ADU. See AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC UNIT (ADU)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Inspect for continuity between terminals 1C (Yellow) and B11 (Yellow) of instrument cluster connector. If continuity does not exist, inspect and repair or replace AIR BAG warning light bulb, socket or printed circuit board in instrument cluster. If continuity exists, replace wire harness between instrument cluster and harness connector, located in harness between ADU connector and instrument cluster. Go to next step.
  3. Check for continuity between ADU connector terminal No. 7 (Yellow wire) and connector terminal, located in harness between ADU connector and instrument cluster. If continuity exists, replace harness between ADU and harness connector. If continuity does not exist, replace wire between connector and instrument cluster.
