DTC 55: Driver Module Short

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Remove driver-side air bag module. See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect ADU connector. Measure resistance between clockspring-to-wire harness connector terminal No. 2 (Yellow-Red wire) and terminal No. 3 (Yellow-Black wire). If resistance is less than infinite, go to next step. If resistance is infinite, replace driver-side air bag module.
  2. Measure resistance between wire harness-to-clockspring connector terminals No. 2 (Yellow-Red wire) and terminal No. 3 (Yellow-Black wire). If resistance is not infinite, replace wire harness between ADU and clockspring. If resistance is infinite, replace clockspring. See CLOCKSPRING  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
