DTC 54: Driver Module Short To Battery

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Disconnect ADU connector and wire harness-to-clockspring connector. Measure voltage between ADU connector terminal No. 10 (Yellow-Black wire) and ground. See Figure. Measure voltage between ADU connector terminal No. 11 (Yellow-Red wire) and ground. If voltage is present in either circuit, replace wire harness between ADU connector and clockspring. If voltage is not present, go to next step.
  2. Remove driver-side air bag module. See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Measure voltage between clock spring connector terminal No. 2 (Yellow-Red wire) and ground. Measure voltage between clock spring connector terminal No. 1 (Yellow-Black wire) and ground. If voltage is present in either circuit, replace clockspring assembly. See CLOCKSPRING  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If voltage is not present in either circuit, replace driver-side air bag module.
