Timing Belt Adjustment

CAUTION: Rotate engine only in direction of normal rotation, clockwise (as viewed from timing belt end of engine). Counterclockwise rotation may cause timing belt to slip or jump timing.
CAUTION: DO NOT loosen timing belt tensioner more than 1/2 turn, or bolt may fall inside cover.

Remove timing belt upper cover. Rotate crankshaft clockwise 2 rotations, and align timing marks. Loosen timing belt tensioner adjusting bolt 1/4-1/2 turn. Allow tensioner spring to apply tension to timing belt. See Fig 1 or Fig 2 . Tighten timing belt tensioner bolt. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
