Sephia & Spectra
- Remove rear seat cushion. Remove access cover to fuel pump/sending unit. Disconnect fuel pump/sending unit connector. See Fig 1. Use ohmmeter to measure sending unit resistance between sending unit White/Green wire and Black wire. Resistance should be between 4 ohms with a full tank to 97 ohms with an empty tank. If resistance is not as specified, replace sending unit. If resistance is okay, go to next step.
- Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect instrument cluster 14-pin connector (C229). See Fig 2. Use an ohmmeter to measure resistance from terminal No. 4 (White/Green wire) to ground. Resistance should be approximately the same as in step 1)
. If resistance is not as specified, repair open or short circuit in wiring harness. If resistance is as specified, reconnect instrument cluster 14-pin connector and go to next step.
- Using an ohmmeter, backprobe instrument cluster 14-pin connector, from terminal No. 3 (Black wire) and terminal No. 10 (Yellow wire) to terminal No. 4 (White/Green wire). Both readings should show resistance and be about the same. If readings are not as specified or indicate an open or short, replace fuel gauge.
