Dimmer Switch: Description and Operation

Circuit Operation
With the light switch in PARK or HEAD, battery voltage is applied to the I/P dimmer switch through the TAIL LH fuse. A solid state circuit in the I/P dimmer switch controls the brightness of all the lamps in the circuit by varying the amount of voltage applied to the lights.
