Temperature Gauge Test: Sephia

  1. Disconnect temperature gauge sending unit connector. Use ohmmeter to measure resistance from sending unit terminal to ground. Resistance should be between 180-200 ohms at 122°F (50°C). If sensor resistance is correct, reconnect electrical connector and go to next step. If resistance is incorrect, replace sensor.
  2. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect 14-pin connector (C229). See Figure. Measure resistance between terminal No. 2 (Brown/Yellow wire) and ground. If resistance is the same as in step 1)  , go to next step. If resistance values are not the same, repair open or short circuit in wiring harness.
  3. Reconnect 14-pin connector. Measure resistance between instrument cluster 14-pin connector, from terminal No. 3 (Black wire) and terminal No. 10 (Yellow wire), to terminal No. 2 (Brown/Yellow wire). Both readings should show resistance and be about the same. If readings are not as specified or indicate an open or short, replace temperature gauge.
