Theory Of Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The Target Linear Compensation (TLC) feature is used to calculate errors caused by slight tolerance variations in the crankshaft for misfire monitoring. The Crankshaft Position System variation compensating values are learned and stored in the PCM memory during a Decel Fuel Control (DCFC) Shutoff Event. If the Clear Misfire TLC (Magnettin Marelli) or Cam/Crank Relearn (GPEC) have not been performed in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), The misfire monitor is disabled and DTC P0315 will set.
