Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC 
    WARNING:

    On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, you must thoroughly read and follow all High Voltage Safety procedures. In addition, before performing any diagnostic or service procedure near a high voltage component, you must perform the High Voltage Power Down. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.

    Read the HIGH-VOLTAGE SAFETY PROCEDURES. Refer to  HIGH VOLTAGE SAFETY PROCEDURES  . 

    When the HIGH-VOLTAGE POWER-DOWN PROCEDURE is necessary. Refer to  HIGH VOLTAGE POWER DOWN  . 

    1. With the scan tool, read Battery Pack Control Module (BPCM) DTCs and record on the repair order.
    2. Record the Freeze Frame Data (If available), Event Data (If available), and Environmental Data.
    3. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
      NOTE:

      Most BPCM DTCs will require the EVSE to be disconnected in order to clear. 

    4. Using the recorded data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
    5. With the scan tool, read BPCM DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go To Next Step.

      No 

  2. CHECK VEHICLE FOR COLLISION HISTORY 
    1. Check vehicle history for collision damage.
    2. With the scan tool, verify that the ORC determined a collision event under the BPCM Data tab.

      Has the vehicle been in a collision?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Verify that the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) and the Hybrid Control Processor (HCP) are active on the CAN Bus before proceeding. A non-responsive HCP or ORC will set this DTC. Repair as necessary and retest.
      • Once communication is established with the HCP or ORC, with the scan tool, perform the "Reset Impact Event Fault" routine in the BPCM.
      • Perform the BATTERY PACK CONTROL MODULE (BPCM) VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to HV VERIFICATION TEST .
