- The EGR Valve Motor (-) circuit can be driven high or low depending on whether the EGR Valve is being opened or closed by the PCM. The PCM monitors the circuit for excessive current draw in both directions. The PCM will set the P0489 or P0490 DTC depending on which direction the EGR Valve is being driven when the fault occurs.
- For this fault, the PCM detects a current draw above 8.6 amps on the EGR Valve Motor (-) circuit when the circuit is being driven high.
